“How volleyball changed my
life.”
Past,
present, future, all of these have to with me, with my life and how volleyball
has changed it. Volleyball was just all
fun and games for me until I became more competitive in the sport, and noticed
that I actually liked it. Volleyball was
just something to do at first, now I am pushing myself to become better for
every practice, every game, and most of all myself.
You might
think that everyone has to have a reason to start something, but me, I had the
most common reason most kids that were my age did anything, because your
friends did it. Well that was half the reason the other reason was my mom said
I should try it and if I didn’t like it I could quit next year. I honestly was
really nonchalant about the whole thing, it wasn’t that big of a deal for me,
although I was excited to get started. I didn’t really push myself to any
goals, matter of fact I didn’t have any goals as far as I was concerned it was
just a sport, a game, and something to do after school where all my friends
could hang out. That really never changed after all it was only 6th
grade.
As 7th
grade approached and I was entering the Jr./Sr. high school, leaving middle
school and all school and sports became more serious. This year I really
noticed how much I like volleyball. I became a setter and I love being a
setter, something about it, I love that my team is able to rely on me for a
good set, and also the other setter of course. This year there was lots of
things to work on and improve on. We
became to learn our places and work on serves, also learning how to rotate on
each serve or where your base, for me this is simple but remembering who is
going to have the first set is different, you have to remember where you are
and setter always 2nd hit unless they need help. Volleyball takes practice, hard work, and
determination.
This year
is game after game practice after practice. It’s a lot of hard work. We have a
new coach and that not so bad, she is really nice and gives us that extra push
that we need. Volleyball help a lot of people in a lot of ways, like if you
really just need something to do then play volleyball it’s a lot of fun, or if
you need to let out anger just try to image the volleyball as something that
makes you angry and hit it like you mean it. Side note- if you are playing to
let out stress you may want to keep that to yourself. This year we also need to
learn how to work as a team, even if you don’t like each other if you don’t
work as a team then you don’t succeed.
Preparation is starting for 9th grade, because past, present,
and future all has to do with volleyball.
